For a fashionable historic home, my client an I worked chipped away at remodelling the residence in different stages. First we concurred all the bathrooms and living areas. The final project for this classic home was the kitchen. We transformed the kitchen by raising the ceiling 2 feet and removing an existing obtrusive basement access storm door. Over the existing basement exterior stair we built a new deck and pergola.

We designed four distinct, beautiful bathrooms, a master suite and a laundry room. In keeping with our client's elegant and sophisticated style, we adjusted our palette to suit each purpose: master, girls, boy's and guest.

For the master suite, we transformed the former '70's bathroom remodel into a luxurious marbled bathroom, walk-in closet, and laundry room. As the walls were stripped down to the studs, a hidden gem emerged: a fireplace from a bygone era! We quickly revised the design to incorporate this discovery, rendering this amenity the new focal point of the room.  The Carrara marble stone and antique brass fixtures add grace and modern style to a stately tradition. Nestling just below the window panes, the whirlpool bath offers respite from a busy day with a view of the sky. Not to be outdone, the marble-tiled steam shower combines timeless beauty with function: a built-in bench and shelves adorned with gorgeous marble penny tile inlay. A long walk-in closet with an entry on either end completes the master suite. Along the hallway, the second floor laundry room hides behind oak-stained pocket doors that match the existing historical style.

The girls' bathroom uses the same material palette as the master bathroom but with a youthful, feminine look. Art Deco light fixtures brighten the mirror above the lacquered vanity cabinet with glass and metal hardware. Carrara marble penny tile combines lasting durability with delicate charm.

My clients' son's bathroom reads vintage and masculine. Spare and stoic, white beveled-edge brick meets matte black tile, defining firm planes. The aged iron/brass pendant light tells a story of days gone by.

The third floor guest bath offers sweet solitude at the top of the house. Centered underneath the window and vaulted ceiling, the free-standing tub invites reflective relaxation. Horizontal grooved wood siding wraps the entire room in its embrace, even reaching behind the shower and onto the ceiling above.
