Orrington Colonial

Bringing the home into the 21st Century while preserving its historical character, we expanded the original 120 SF kitchen, connecting it to the existing house with large traditional cased openings. The new 325 SF kitchen addition offers a desk and a large working island that can easily accommodate more than one cook. Also, the exterior was given a 'face-lift' which included removal of an aluminum screen door and metal stair railings. Concrete planters, a decorative covered porch railing and operable shutters were added. The original decorative Corinthian columns were replaced with a cleaner Tuscan style column.

Some unique details to the space include the industrial casters on the island and a custom metal hood, as well as custom cabinetry. Upper cabinets were kept to a minimum to maintain the expansive feel of the kitchen. There are no corner cabinets, which tend to be wasted space. The kitchen also includes large 4x12 white subway tiles, matte nickel light fixtures and exposed hinges made of polished nickel.
